This Decker Brothers parlor grand piano was constructed in 1889, and in that era was considered one of the best for its time. It was carefully restored about 12 years ago. It's a gorgeous instrument that would be perfect for the accomplished pianist & musical hobbyists with an appreciation of history and luxury.
Only slightly smaller than a modern grand piano, the parlor grand's structure and length (6'11" long) give the notes a bright multidimensionality and allow the sound to truly resonate. It's definitely a show piece. It is a perfect instrument to do justice to dramatic works requiring projection. It would also be a good choice as an accompanying instrument for an orchestral ensemble or large choir. It is a treasure that belongs in a spacious, temperature controlled setting, such as a sanctuary, a concert hall, or a museum.
The piano is in good, playable condition. Please note that it is currently located in a cat friendly home. We are donating it because we downsized, and it is too large for our modest living room.
Preference will be given to churches, musical groups, historical societies, and museums. The piano is of course free, but the organization acquiring it will need to arrange for shipping and tuning.
