We have seven year-old laying hens that we would like to give away to a good home. We have greatly enjoyed being chicken owners for much of the last five years, but the predator pressure on our property has grown too intense in recent years. Bears, raccoons, bobcats… we seem to have it all and no amount of predator proofing has been sufficient.
These hens are healthy and producing well. They are also all quite pretty and lay very attractive eggs. We have three blue layers, two green layers, one white layer and one light brown layer. Most are Easter eggers, but we have a few other more specialty breeds.
The one wrinkle with this transaction is one of the hens is broody right now. We had a rooster until very recently so the eggs should be fertile. In an ideal scenario, someone would be willing/able to transport the hen and her clutch and get them set up safely in a new home.
If you are interested, please message me details of where you are, if you are already set up to take on these hens, and when you would be a available to pick them up.
