This wonderful older girl is a constant tail wagger! She was surrendered at he kill shelter, her owner explaining that he could no longer afford to keep a pet. He told us how much she loves people. And we discovered she wants attention and love, and she's a little stressed at the sheter: she's looking for her caretakers; she barks at other dogs sometimes, but once she was out and about for a while in the company of 'her' humans, she became so mellow and quiet, all she wants is Love, indeed; she's worried when left all alone in the cage; someone barely EVER walked her in her previous home af a lifetime: just look at her nails; and they overfed her, too (she weighs 98 pounds). She could easily lose 10 to 15 pounds and gain even more in youthfulness -- she's only estimated to be 7 years old.
Her owner says that Lulu needs to live in a one-animal household...with that animal being Lulu, of course.

She's quite a character and a fun, sweet cutiepie in my book. I enjoyed her very much and think she'd make a great, mellow & sweet companion for someone; please, call if you can offer her a home and stop her execution; come meet her and give this round babe the Good Second Chance she deserves, but HURRY: her deadline if Friday Morning at 8m! Lucky dog must to be put down yesterday but by some luck of the draw... he was spared and a result;he is lucky dog and need to be saved!! They are 1 1/2 yrs old and I have been working with them for the past couple of weeks and they are two of the smartest dogs I have honestly ever met. The male learned to walk by my side and sit when we stopped within my first 15 minutes of working with him. They are awesome with other dogs, are purebred dalmatians, brother and sister, neutered & spayed, are awesome in the car, get along with all other dogs (LOVE the dog park) and are just brilliant, they learn so quickly! If I was not returning to college in Springfield, MA within the next two weeks, I would take them myself but I just cannot have dogs while in school (and I've already forced my mom to take in far to many needy animals). They do not have one mean bone in their body, and trust me, I have tried to provoke any horrible reaction I can and they just completely ignore it and are excited that they are getting attention. They get a long well with children, they technically live with a twelve year old and a five year old and have recently been interacting a lot with them and of course play very well at the dog park with the other dog's children and also ride GREAT and LOVE going in the car. If you know of anyone, please let me know, I'd love to find them a good home with an active person/family and a big back yard. They have a great family and have been well cared for with feeding and vet care but unfortunately the family just does not have enough time or devotion to these beautiful animals and it is just very unfair to them. They are certainly not going to be easy dogs at first, and will definitely require at least one if not two long walks or more than an hour at a dog park every day. But they have more love and affection to shower you with then you could EVER possibly imagine. I am in no hurry to find these guys a new home (because what they have is not as bad as it could be) but the sooner the better, and will only pick the right home for them. I have also decided that they are so well bonded and so attached that they must go together. Sandy will certainly bring lots of love and affection. She is a wonderful dog that loves to be with people. She is fully house-trained and has never chewed furniture�not even when she was a puppy. She is a perfect companion and will never let you be sad. She is extremely smart and sits on command, gives both paws for a shake�can also give high five as well as lie down and roll over on command. Sandy would love to have a back yard with grass or some room to run. She is amazingly agile and will never run off and will always come back to you on command. This cute dog is an alien from another planet who decided he wanted to enjoy living with the human race for a good dog's life. We believe he's impersonating a funny looking American Staffordshire / Dogo Mix. Sweets needs a home where he's not left alone for a long period of time as well as a dog savvy person and good pack leader who can set good direction. He is very handsome, intelligent and sweetly responsive to training. He is an older guy at - we're guessing - around 8 years old, but is not boring at all. Sweets is people focused and toy & treat motivated, and is low maintenance with two daily walks to relief himself. Once he's stretched his long legs, he can chill with the best of them. Crashes out early at night and just loves his bed -- he's house trained and crate trained but doesn't need a crate. Sweets is a smarty-pants and loves when he knows what it is that you want him to do. Sweets has a zest for life, an affinity for ropes and branches, and wouldn't turn down an opportunity to lounge around in the sun (with sunscreen, of course!). Needs someone who is, or is willing to learn to be, a good boss. No kids. No other dogs. Two great and beautiful brothers seek woodsy environment.

I've just moved to New York City from Atlanta. I have five furry kids, 4 dogs, 1 cat. My two older dogs and cat stayed behind until I get settled here. The two younger ones, Teddy and Dodger, are with me now. You can see all of them at a web picture page at "hometown.aol.com(slash)oddbutnotclever".

Teddy and Dodger are 5 1/2 and 3 1/2 years old. Teddy (for 'teddy bear') was born in some woods where he lived until coming into our home. He is fearful of people, so you can imagine his anxiety level in New York City.

His brother, Dodger (for Oliver Twist's 'the Artful Dodger'), while cautious of strangers, is quite social. And Dodger is very lovable, insisting on giving kisses when you arrive home.

Teddy is ball fetching crazy, very smart and very handsome. Teddy is easy to train; picked up on the 'heel' command very quickly. The two wrestle each other for fun, and are generally quite the pair, while being very different.

The inevitable question of breed is not easily answered. I refer to Teddy as a shepherd mix. He is likely half German Shepherd and half Great Pyrenees. Dodger could be a Sharpei and Lab mix, though probably a few other things as well. He had more face wrinkles when he was a puppy. Everyone thinks he is the cutest.

It would be great if I could continue being their 'dad'. But I realize that Teddy has an intrinsic fear of people and popping noises (which seem to come from everywhere in the city). I think it's important that he is adopted with some of his family and Dodger is young enough to readjust easily to an adoptive family. At 2 months old, I convinced Dodger's owners to let me have him (they showed him no love and just kept him chained up). He has been loved greatly ever since and thus doesn't have any bad human encounters to haunt him.

They are used to plenty of room to run about and, on weekends, being taken on errands and to parks and heavily wooded areas, with creeks, where they are free to roam about as we hike. They are both very mindful; will happily obey a loving and caring parent.

There is, of course, no fee involved here. I will have to be convinced of an adopter's intentions, and will want the option to see them again in the future. I can bring them out to see you, so distance from New York City shouldn't be a hindrance.

the owner is moving to Australia leaving early on Monday morning; she cannot
take them with her bcz that country made basically impossible (6months

Here is what one of the volunteers had to say about Kane � When I first took Kane out for his walk on the street, the first thing someone said was: "Wow, what a beautiful rednose!". He really IS a beauty, isn't he? Perfectly proportioned, strong, confident, shiny coat, yet not big, a nice little size dog ... you can't be a wallflower when you walk this guy in public! Everyone looks at him. Kane has excellent leash manners, saw many different types of dogs outside and didn't react at all, and accepts pets gracefully from his handler and from various strangers. His energy level is on the low side, so if you're looking for the type of dog who always has a head start on afternoon nap time, look no further. Kane is very eager to please and walks nicely not only on the leash but off the leash as well! His manners are exemplary and he heels on and off his lead. He looks to his handler for direction and eagerly seeks approval! This makes me think that maybe he has had some training in the past??? Very calm at first, he almost seems disinterested, but after about 15 minutes he really begins to bond with his handler and loves to give hugs and kisses. Kane is also great with other dogs. He assumes the play position -- inviting other dogs to play with him and greets them with a happy wag of his tail.

Kane is a 2-year old male, brown and white AmStaff Terrier mix that weights 56 pounds. Kane has won the hearts of two dedicated shelter volunteers that love to take him for walks around the shelter. This is a big privilege for a shelter dog, because not all dogs at the shelter are permitted to be walked in the streets among the public. So Kane has won this privilege based upon his wonderful behavior. Unfortunately, the shelter is so overwhelmed that he was never advertised and no pics were taken until 11 PM Monday night by a dedicated volunteer, the day before he is scheduled for euthanasia in hopes that someone will come forward to foster or adopt Kane so he can be saved from euthanasia Sat morning (August 16th).

Max is a fixed 8-9 y.o purebred male beagle (no papers)and he needs a new home. He would be happiest with a 1-2 person adult home. He loves his pack (us) and is housebroken and crate trained. (Crate included)He is somewhat strong willed as are most beagles. Wife's health and their pack hierarchy issues require me to regretfully have to let him go.He likes kids but they should be older as he plays hard. Loves rawhide chewies. He is a leash dog as like most beagles he likes to run and follow his nose. He is up to date on shots. Ok with other dogs, but dont know about cats. has not had encounters with them since we have had him. Previous beagle owners that know the breed would be his best packmates! Playtime is all day! Your dog will only be crated if that is what he is used to at home. There is no extra charge for attention or playtime. Bring the food and we�ll take care of the rest.

My rate is $25 per day for the first dog ($30 if under 1 year) and $20 per day for each additional dog. If you are interested, please let me know and we could set up a time for you to come meet us!

BUSTER IS A "KISS MONSTER" AND LOVES EVERYONE HE MEETS. WE DO PREFER HE GOES TO A HOME WITH OLDER CHILDREN, AS HE MAY KNOCK THE SMALLER KIDS OVER WITH HIS AFFECTION!! BUSTER DREAMS OF A HOME WITH A LOVING, NURTURING FAMILY, FENCED IN YARD & LOTS OF TOYS TO PLAY WITH. (AND SO DO WE!) Rambo is a 1-year old male, tan AmStaff Terrier mix. He was just surrendered on 8/6. His previous guards stated that they could no longer care for Rambo because of personal problems. So Rambo finds himself at the shelter by no fault of his own. The name Rambo doesn't suit him well because he is NO tough guy like Rambo in the movies. He is more like a "Tinkerbell". At the shelter he is a perfect gentleman and all sweetness. He loves people and other dogs. His owners said that aside from being friendly, one of his best qualities is that he loves to cuddle. So if you are looking for a dog to cuddle with that can be your mush dog, look no further. But you must hurry because he is on the euthanasia list for Tuesday morning (August 12th)

hi my name is BONES.. i was pulled from a high kill shelter in KY, by a wonderful lady named Jan she got be vetted, rabies and Neutered,and took me to her home to foster, she gave me food, and love and then transported me up to my foster home in CT, where i am now waiting to find a forever home, i am a redbone coonhound, but i am very quiet , i am 40lbs and will stay that size, i am housetrained and my foster mom says i behave very well i get along with other dogs, and love people. i am looking for my forever family if you are that family , please contact my foster mom .adoption fee $50 thanks jill

We firmly believe in paying it forward and when we are back on our feet will do so.

I have a wonderful eight year old who has autism. He has been approved and we have made payments towards his service dog, Rex.

Rex is a beautiful yellow lab.

Unfortunately we are still needing approximately $2000.00 towards his cost.
We have already raised $3000.00.

Due to my loss of job, we have been trying to raise funds but are left with this and our final payment is due soon.

Anyone who donates will receive a picture of our son and Rex when he arrives. You will also receive a hand drawn (priceless!) picture from our son thanking you if you give us your address.

Rex will be trained to always be with Cole, to search for him by scent if Cole ever wanders off, to provide Cole with tactile touch by purposely leaning on him when asked. Rex will also sleep with Cole and is being trained to sleep against him to hopefully help keep Cole in bed. Not so important to us but Rex will also be able to open doors, turn on lights, pick up toys etc. Rex will also be trained to greet people when Cole wants him to so that he can act as a social conduit for Cole. Cole sometimes has spatiial issues and hopefully Rex will provide him with that calming spatial barrier that he needs. Most importantly Rex will provide Cole with some independence. Rex will be trained that when tethered to Cole and I say Halt....he will immediately stop and will not let Cole go. This is an important safety issue.

a young lady estimated to be no more than 2 years of age, she's a stunning Rough Collie / German Shepherd mix who was brought to the shelter by someone who said found her as a stray on 8/6/08. Her leash and collar were still attached when found. could she have gotten lost? and now, to be put to sleep within less than 3 days? it does not seem fair at all, she just didn't even get a chance.

A gentle and loving soul, Sam is an agile and lean but big girl at 84 pounds; she's very friendly with both people and other dogs, walks very nicely on the leash, and loves affection and being petted. She looks like she's been well-cared for and is very well behaved. She knows "sit" and immediately gives you her paw, too, looking at you with longing eyes and sometimes letting out a little cry from behind the bars, as if to say, "but where is my home, why am I here?"
Whatever happened with her to get her lost, we might never know; but we need Sam to find a loving home IMMEDIATELY if she is to live, as her time at the shelter has already run out, and we could only buy her a few extra hours off the euthanasia list.
